Fall Happenings

Since I'm soo far behind, I frankly exhausted (hence why I haven't blogged in a while) I am going to do a recap of the fall.  Micah started back up in soccer this year.  Their team did great.  It's fun to see these boys grow and get better every year.  He scored a few goals and had a blast.  He's playing on the bigger fields this year so there is a lot more running involved.  I find it humorous that he wears the same two colors every year, either black or lime green.
We went up the canyon this year instead of doing our annual hike with friends we had a weiner roast.  This kids had fun doing something different, and Masie loves Doritos apparently.

Randy had a little too much fun tending the fire.
When we were all done and cleaned up, we headed up Squaw Peak to show the kids what a spectacular view it is from there.  It was freezing but they loved singing all of the Utah Valley.
We also went to the BYU Homecoming parade again.  This year the Nordfelt's went with us.  After eating our blue pancakes, we headed down to the duck pond  while we waited for the parade to start.

The kids went back for 2nds on the pancakes.
 Trying not to freeze.
Then it started and the kids were mezmorized.
One of the ballroom dancers wanted to show Morgan his moves.  She loved it.
Next up was McKenzie's 1st band concert.  She started playing the flute at the beginning of the summer at a band camp and she really likes it.  She struggled at first and got really frustrated that she didn't sound like a professional right from the get go, lol.  She's learning a lot and doing great.  She wouldn't smile for the camera for me, cuz apparently that's not cool anymore.
So I made her take another picture later. . . smiling.
Then Malia did her first Rad Kids.  We are so excited for her to participate.  She did great even if the Lobster man wasn't able to come to this one.

She was so excited she forgot to give her teacher a high 5.   1 down 2 more to go this year.  I'm really grateful our school has this program.  It puts my mind a little more at ease knowing that if my kids were put in a scary situation like getting abducted, they have some tools to help fight back and not become a victim.

It's only the middle of May!!!!!

I can't even describe how busy it has been already this month and we haven't even gotten to all the end of the year hoopla.  I figured if I don't want to get backed up I better get some of this stuff posted quick or it'll never get done.

First, one of our neighbors that graduated the same time Randy did, became a Chaplin for the military.  Shortly after graduation they moved and will be stationed back east (sad for all of us).  There was an little going away party for them.  We'll miss you Reed's.
They have 3 little kids, here are the 2 oldest.  The one on the left is Malia's age, actually older but you'd never know seeing them next to each other cuz Malia is a giant compared to this petite little thing.
The next week was "Mad" week.  It started off with Malia's preschool going to the aquarium and I got to go along.  Good thing it's a small little place, a little less chaotic chasing around a group of 4/5 year olds.
Here's her class, well both classes actually.  There's an AM and PM class.
Morgan's ecosystem project presentation was a few days later, which was also the same day as the 1st grade zoo trip. Randy went on it with Micah but didn't bring a camera so I don't have any shots.  Anyway, Morg chose the Ocean for her project.  We had been so busy with everything else that we raced to get her stuff put together.  I felt bad but hey it turned out great.
Then the next day was the last day of soccer, Yippeeeee!!!! (for me)  The kids had a fun season and scored lots of goals.
Randy coached both teams both fall and spring season.  He had fun, it was stressful during practices since he combined the two together, but he really enjoys coaching.

Right after soccer, Gma and Gpa came down for Gpa's birthday "linner".  We went to Applebee's then came back and opened gifts.  We weren't able to go up there considering all of the fun we were having down here, lol.
Then the next week, James received his mission call.  We were going to have it sent to my house, but since we really had no idea if we would be living here when it arrive (just in case it was late) we had it sent to Billy's house and drove up there to open it up.  We were all guessing outside of the U.S. but. . .
He got called to the Porland Oregon Mission and will go into the MTC on August 15.  We were all surprised because that was the mission he was born in (At the time. Prineville was moved to the Eugene mission after I graduated from High School), so he won't be going back to his birth place, but he is awfully close.  The other funny thing is my sister lives in Vancouver just over the river from Portland but is in a different mission.  Do you see the shocked look on his face?
Then the week after James got his call, it was Kristi's turn to report to the MTC.  We drove up Tuesday night to see her get set apart and then drove home and they came down to drop her off.  We ate at Pizza Pie Cafe.

Julie had to rush home so we took a quick shot before she bolted.
Then with the new rules with dropping off, we decided not to chance not getting shots at the MTC so we stopped at the Provo Temple to get a few.  It's a good thing we stopped.
Malia's really good at being a ham and getting people's attention, can you tell?
Then it was time for goodbye's  There really wasn't any time for tears, which was good.  Just a quick hug then through the gate she went.  We are really excited for Kristi, she's going to be an awesome missionary.  She just kept saying how happy she was that day, and we are so happy for her.
I know I still have Mother's Day to post and we have more school performances coming up and of course the traditional end of the year festivities.  I can't believe there are only 11 more days of school for these kids, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  Can't we just go a few more weeks?

Soccer has come again

I love soccer I really do, I just hate going and dealing with the rest of my kids during the games.  It's not very enjoyable for me, but since I really want them to play, here we go again.  The kids have 1 more game this week and then we are done (till the spring).  They've been doing great, making at least 1 goal (usually more) per game.  Micah's color's stayed the same and now we will never lose Morgan.  It's very bright.
Randy is both of their coaches so he's been really busy as well.
She was showing me 2 for the 2 goals she had already made.  I think she made 3 this game.  Go Orange Dreamcicles.
Micah's been really aggressive and he's a lefty so that gives him an advantage on the other side of the field since all the other kids are right, they just can't get it away from him.
Micah and KC are on the same team this year and even KC is doing really well.  Go Black Ninja's
I'm excited for the break now, phew!

Spring Soccer 2011

I love soccer!!! But I really love it when it's over.  No more sitting at the soccer fields for hours at a time. Ahhhhh!  The kids had a lot of fun this year.  Micah is really starting to get the hang of things.  He usually gets a few goals per game.
 Here's one of them.
Morg had fun too but quickly realized this year was going to be much harder moving up an age group.  She still enjoyed herself, especially when she got the ball.
She got a few goals and helped with quite a few.
We had all sorts of weather to deal with this season.  We really didn't get nice weather till the last game.  Pretty much the opposite of Fall season, but we survived.
It was nice that the fam was able to come down a couple of times.
The most amazing thing was that Malia made it through both seasons. . . alive.
Don't even ask me what Morgan is doing here.
Aren't these two are just the cutest?
And of course we can't forget the beautiful view we were able to enjoy at each game (as long as it wasn't raining that is).
Here's to next season.  Malia really wants to play but she misses the cutoff by about 2 weeks.  Oh well, at least we'll still only have 2 games to keep track of for another year.

Fall Soccer 2010

Tell me it's not already the middle of October and I still haven't posted this.  I have blogging spurts and get a lot of posts done at once, and then I poop out for a while. I was trying to be on top of things, but apparently I'm not.  Well soccer is now over, hallelujah.  I love soccer don't get me wrong, but 2 kids in soccer on different days and times is a little overwhelming.  My only saving grace was this year, I was able to convince Micah's team to practice at the same time as Morgan's at the same place, so that coordinated well.  We had soccer every day except Tuesday's, Friday's and Sunday's all of September.  It's nice that it was crammed into only one month (cuz there is no way I would've done 2 months of this) so there was only 4+ weeks of chaos instead of 2 or more.  The kids really liked their uniforms this year, because they weren't the bright things they had last year.
Morgan's team are the Purple Unicorn's (she wasn't really keen on the name, but she got used to it).  She was moved up a division, so she was playing with 6, 7&8 year old's instead of 4, 5&6.  She struggled a lot more this year, since she wasn't the biggest on the team anymore, but she still had fun.  She made a couple of goals this season, not that I got any on film cuz I'm like that and forget my camera sometimes (ok most of the time).
But she still had fun, look at that smile, can't ya tell?
Micah's team are the Black Panther's and Randy was able to coach again (only because their games and practices were not on Wednesday's which is school night for him).  He loves soccer, struggles with the attention span of 4, 5&6 year olds, but loves it the same.
Micah loved having his buds on the team, here are 2 of them, Jack and Warner.  Micah and Jack were on fire the whole season.  They really learned to pass to each other and get the ball up the field to score, which they usually did.  I did have my camera ready and going for 2 of the goals, amazing I know.
This one was from about half field to score.
This one had a cross shot in it and I'm sorry that I missed the actual entrance of the goal, but he got it in there just the same.
So, we had a good season, made lots of goals, had fun with our friends and it is over till the spring, and we will start it all over again, yeah for us.
