Some fourth fun

We had a quiet fourth of July this year. We did things a little earlier and not as much as we usually try to pack in. We went to an Ellis Island tribute at one of the parks. They had a video/tour guide tour of what it was like for the immigrants. Then we got to go to different booths and act like we were immigrating to the US by having to take a citizenship test, take an oath and get a passport. They even had a huge star made out of flags (which is what Malia is standing in the midst of). There was a backdrop of Ellis Island that you could take pics in front of and get an idea of what it looks like.
They even had the statue of liberty there, yup they brought it all the way from NY just for us. They had some olden time clothes there for those who wanted to try and get an authentic picture taken. I passed, fear of germs and lice came pretty high up on my list. Oh and we were on our way to swim lessons, hence the swim suits.
We were also able to go to the annual balloon fest. There were like 15-20 balloons that set up in a field, then they all take off and do races of sorts. We got there what we thought was on time, but apparently not. they were all starting to lift off as we drove down the hill. So we parked at a nearby parking lot and took some pics and stood in amazement. We were pretty bummed we didn't make it to the field in time, but it was still worth waking up at 5:30 in the morning.

This one is for my fam. Merry Christmas dad.

This one is one of my favorites. See ma, pigs do fly.

I didn't take pictures on the 4th, we went to Randy's parents and went boating on a nearby lake, ate lots of food and just hung out. It was nice. We came back down Saturday night to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks. We had a awesome view (thanx to members in our ward who have the best back yards), although I think the economy had something to do with the shortness of the show. It was still amazing, just not as long as it use to, which is fine cuz my kids get bored after a while. Overall the holiday was perfect.
